Anwar defends Rafizi: "Leave is not a big problem"

(Banting, 2nd) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that it is not a big problem for Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi to take a long vacation.

He said it is normal for an employee to apply for leave and he himself is also looking for the right time to take leave.

"Just a few days off, let him... no problem at all. I also want to take a few days off."

Anwar (center) interacted cordially with the public after Friday prayers.

After Friday prayers at the Saujana Putra Mosque today, Anwar briefly responded to the accusation that Rafizi, who is also the deputy chairman of the PKR, was taking a long leave until May 31 because he was dissatisfied with the party's divisional re-election.

"I haven't asked for leave yet. Can you give me a few days off after this summit?"

Earlier, it was rumored that Rafizi would resign as the Minister of Economic Affairs or take a month off as a bargaining chip to negotiate with PKR chairman Anwar Ibrahim on the central party election layout.

However, a cabinet minister later refuted this, saying that Anwar informed the cabinet meeting that Rafizi had taken a few days off.

"There is no resignation. These rumors are completely false."
