Our newspaper reported on Monday that a couple living on the 12th floor of Block 102A in Punggol Field went abroad in the early hours of last Tuesday (15th) and allegedly forgot to turn off the air conditioner in their room, causing their neighbours living in the unit to the left and the neighbours upstairs and downstairs to be affected, with water droplets appearing on the floor, ceiling and walls.
After the news was published, a neighbor, Mr. Zhang, revealed in an interview on Monday that the Housing and Development Board had sent someone to check the scene in the morning, and then said that they would notify the owner: "Later, the Housing and Development Board called to inform that they had contacted the owner. It is understood that they will not return to the country so soon, and they will arrange for their family to turn off the air conditioner."
Mr. Zhang checked the CCTV footage and found that the homeowner's family came to shut down the air conditioner at around 2 pm on Monday. When he returned home at 8 o'clock in the evening, the originally wet walls had dried up, but the room was still chilly and the sockets were still damp. “The HDB staff suggested I turn on a fan to dry out the moisture.”
