Ma Yixuan's husband died suddenly while she was pregnant, so she obtained Singapore

Malaysian artist Ma Yixuan suddenly became a single mother after her husband passed away during her pregnancy. For the sake of her children, she decided to apply for Singaporean citizenship and successfully obtained a pink identity card on January 22 this year, which was also her birthday. In a telephone interview with the Shin Min Daily News, she revealed that she is learning to be a Singaporean and is actively negotiating jobs and auditioning for dramas in her acting career.

The Lianhe Zaobao reported that four days ago, Ma Yixuan posted a photo of herself holding her baby and taking a photo with Tampines GRC MP Koh Poh Koon on social media, revealing the process of her application for citizenship. She also thanked Koh Poh Koon for his assistance and praised him and his assistant for their high efficiency. Koh Poh Koon is also Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.

In order to make it easier to handle the children's affairs after her husband's death, Ma Yixuan emailed Xu Baokun for help in applying for citizenship during her pregnancy. "This was the first time I asked a government official for help. To my surprise, I received a reply after only 40 minutes, asking me to prepare all the documents and meet him at the voter reception event in a week or two."

A few days after the post was published, she actually received some well-intentioned private messages, reminding her that posting at this time seemed to have some "platform-oriented" elements, but she clarified that she only wanted to share what happened at that time, "Maybe everyone thinks that I got the pink ID card easily and smoothly in a day or two, but I didn't actually write down the process in detail."

“In fact, I try to find time to check my emails every day when I have free time. After seeing her letter, I learned about her situation and asked her to come to our voter meet-and-greet event as soon as possible so that I can learn more about her situation.”

Xu Baokun revealed that he does not often watch TV programs, and Ma Yixuan was wearing a mask when she arrived at the scene, so he and the volunteer team did not realize that she was an artist.

"It was only after we talked to her that we deeply understood her confusion at the time. We then helped her write a letter and asked for help from the relevant authorities. In the end, we were able to assist her and get a good result, and we are very happy for her."

Xu Baokun also pointed out that the residents who came to seek help all faced some difficulties in their lives. "We treat everyone equally and do our best to provide assistance within our capabilities. Some issues are more complex and may require cross-departmental coordination and more time to resolve, while others can achieve the desired results more quickly."
