Japanese citizens applying for US visas must provide 5 years of social media information

(Tokyo, 25th) Recently, the U.S. Embassy in Japan announced a new regulation that all Japanese people must provide all their information on all social media within 5 years at one time when applying for a visa to the United States.

If a Japanese person wants to apply for a visa to the United States, he must provide his content on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Linked In, etc. to the U.S. government at one time for the so-called security review by the U.S. government.

The U.S. Embassy in Japan has not yet provided specific details of the social media review process and what types of content may cause alarm during the review process. However, applicants should be aware that their online status may now play a more important role in the visa approval process.
