Myanmar deported 920 fraudsters to China, 55,000 arrested so far

(Beijing, 23rd) Myanmar recently transferred more than 920 telecom fraud suspects to China. Although the official did not explain the detailed background of these suspects, it is very likely that Taiwanese suspects are also included. The Chinese Ministry of Public Security stated that China and Myanmar have actively cooperated to combat telecom fraud, and over the long term, more than 55,000 Chinese telecom fraud suspects have been arrested.

A press release from the Chinese Public Security Bureau stated that Myanmar law enforcement agencies recently transferred more than 920 telecom fraud suspects arrested in Dangyang, Mengxiu and other places in southern Shan State, Myanmar since March 24 to China from the Daluo Port in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, on the China-Myanmar border.

The Chinese Public Security Bureau claimed that China and Myanmar have continued to cooperate in combating telecom fraud crimes, and have previously "completely eradicated" suspects who organized fraud groups in northern Myanmar. The recent transfer is the latest achievement of the cooperation between the two sides.

Chinese police announced that Myanmar had transferred telecom fraudsters.

The Chinese police said that China and Myanmar have cooperated to investigate telecommunications fraud and have arrested more than 55,000 suspects involved in the case. Myanmar fraud groups have "suffered a severe setback" and moved to Dangyang, Mengxiu and other places on the China-Myanmar border to hide and continue to defraud Chinese victims. The Chinese police promptly provided clues to Myanmar and locked down the fraud group's stronghold. In addition to arresting more than 900 suspects, recent raids have also seized computers, mobile phones, ATM cards, fraud scripts and other tools used in committing crimes.

The Chinese police made a final confident statement, saying that their "determination and strength to fight telecommunications fraud in cooperation with Myanmar remain unchanged," and that they would "keep a close eye on the crimes and step up investigations of the cases," and severely punish telecommunications fraud crimes in accordance with the law. At the same time, they also told the fraud gangs that "overseas is not a lawless place, and that you must recognize the situation, give up your luck, return to China as soon as possible to surrender, and strive for lenient treatment."

Chinese netizens applauded the news, leaving comments such as "support severe punishment" and "fight against fraud". Many netizens also wrote indignantly: "Why send them back? Can't they be buried alive on the spot?" "Why not send them to Xinjiang to plant trees?" Some netizens lamented: "Even after catching so many, there are still endless fraud calls. The harassment calls continue every day and it is hard to guard against them."
