Cleaner pleads not guilty to molesting female worker

(Malacca, 23rd) A factory cleaner was charged with molesting a female worker in the factory lounge. The defendant denied the guilt.

The 40-year-old accused, Azizul Hamis Zaini, was brought to the Alor Gajah Magistrate's Court today to face charges.

According to the charge, the defendant used violence to molest a 21-year-old female cleaning worker in a factory lounge in Simpang Ampat at around 3:30 pm last Friday. He pulled the victim's underwear and sucked the victim's left breast, in violation of Section 354 of the Penal Code, which involves violence or forcible insult to the chastity of a woman. If convicted, he may be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years' imprisonment, a fine and caning, or two of the above penalties.

During the trial, the prosecution did not make any bail recommendations, but if the court decides at its discretion, the prosecution suggested a bail of RM15,000, with additional conditions including that the defendant must not harass the victim and prosecution witnesses, and must report to the nearest police station once in the first week of each month.
