The accident caused the front seat passenger Lin Jingshan (19 years old, transliteration) from Sabah to die on the spot. His body was later sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Ipoh for autopsy, which confirmed that the fatal injury was a severe head injury.
Lin Jingshan's uncle Luo Fujia said in an interview at the morgue today that he came to Kuala Lumpur from Sabah for a meeting and was informed by his father-in-law that his nephew had a car accident in Ipoh. At first, he thought it was a call from a fraud group. Until the other party sent his nephew's Malaysian identity card, he hurriedly took a taxi from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh to find out the situation.
He revealed that on the way to Ipoh, his nephew's classmates told him that he was in a coma, and later said that he had passed away. When he contacted the student again, he no longer answered calls or replied to messages.
He pointed out that he only knew that his nephew had been studying at UTAR Sungai Long for 1 to 2 years and had just finished his exams, but his nephew did not tell his family about his whereabouts in Ipoh. He believed that his nephew came to Ipoh for tourism. The investigating officer in charge of investigating the case told him that his nephew was on his way from Genting to Ipoh at the time. However, when questioned further, the investigating officer told him that this was not an officially recorded confession.
He said that he is currently waiting for his nephew’s father to fly from Sabah to West Malaysia to discuss his nephew’s funeral arrangements.
In addition, Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani issued a statement stating that when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that a car had fallen into a 3-meter-deep ravine. A 19-year-old Chinese youth in the car unfortunately died, and another two 19-year-old and an 18-year-old Chinese youths were slightly injured. No one was trapped in the car.
She said firefighters provided initial treatment to the injured at the scene, and the deceased was confirmed dead by medical staff from the Health Department and handed over to the police for further investigation and action.
